However, not all wine lists are equivalent, so here are 10 restaurants with the best wine lists in the French capital.

114 Faubourg at Le Bristol

Situated in a hotel on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, this fine restaurant is run by Chef Sommelier Marco Pelletier, who has worked hard to provide guests with an extensive French wine list. The wine mark-ups are relatively modest and the average price tag for a 2-course lunch package is €56 (not including wine).

Brasserie Thoumieux

Brasserie Thoumieux also resides in a hotel on Rue Saint-Dominique. Decked with wooden floors, green lamps and red velvet banquettes, this elegant restaurant provides a warm and refined environment. If you're a natural wine enthusiast, you'll certainly enjoy this place, particularly given the low mark-ups. The food is much more costly, and you should expect the main course to cost €20 or more.

Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée

This restaurant emphasizes organic fishing and ingredient sourcing, so you can dine absolutely guilt-free at this place. While it is essentially French cuisine, you can also discover some dishes served in a traditional Japanese way , giving the menu some variety. The list of wines is categorized not only by origin, but also by maturity, with parts devoted to wines of various ages. A fixed 3-course lunch will set you back €210, with two glasses of wine chosen by the sommelier 's chef.

Passage 53

Hidden under one of the oldest passageways in Paris, this restaurant is operated by the only Michelin star-winning Japanese chef in France. Located on the Passage des Panoramas, the décor of Passage 53 may be minimalist, but its list of wines does not include offering diners a large range of wines (especially from Burgundy) to choose from. Wine tastings are reasonable, but the dining experience would cost you €60 for a fixed lunch menu and €120 for dinner, allowing for a more exclusive dining experience.

Septime

After its opening, Septime has been on numerous must-eat lists thanks to its wide variety of wines and foods. This restaurant on the Rue de Charonne has a wine list that highlights the biodynamic and sustainable wines chosen by French sommelier Théo Pourriat. The food served here can be described as contemporary and fairly priced at €42 for a 4-step lunch, but the wine pairing will cost you an additional €28 if you want to opt in. It's famously hard to make reservations here because you don't mind waiting for a few weeks.

Le Mary Céleste

Although this spot is more like a bar than a restaurant, it is ideal for an inexpensive meal or a cheap date, without sacrificing on the food or wine being served. Le Mary Céleste is part of a variety of venues called Quixotic Ventures and is based on Rue Commines. Its beautifully decorated menu includes a lengthy selection of wines, both natural and not, as well as dishes that come with low price tags.

Le Baratin

A central spot for wine lovers for over two decades, Le Baratin definitely does everything right. Located on Rue Jouye-Rouve, this cozy bistro cellar has a stellar reputation for being one of the best in town, with a wide range of natural and vintage wines to complement your dinner. The lunch menu costs just €19, which may make it worth reserving in advance, as low rates make Le Baratin a very popular destination.

Le Sévero

Founded by former butcher William Bernet, Le Sévero was made for lovers of meat and wine. The small square on the Rue des Plantes looks like a traditional Parisian bistro, with its red banquets and a zinc bar serving traditional French fare. This place caters to those looking for a relaxed dinner as well as those looking for something more sophisticated, as the main courses start at €16 but go all the way up to €180.

La Tour d’Argent

Dating back to 1862 (although others say it has been around since the 16th century), La Tour d'Argent had the time to compile an impressive wine selection of 15,000 bottles to choose from. Located on the Quai de la Tournelle and overlooking the Seine River, this location offers delicious meals, providing a sophisticated atmosphere of stunning views. However, all of this comes at an expense, with a package of 3 course meals costing €105, not including wine.

Frenchie

Before moving to Paris, the original Frenchie began off as a small restaurant selling bistro-style dishes in the streets of Paris. Located on Rue du Zero, this spot is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Reflecting the size of the restaurant, the wine list includes bottles from small farms and family companies only, so you can certainly hope to find some secret gems. The rates are still fairly appropriate, with a 4-course meal costing €45, but wine is not included.
